Sumel Brar is an independent filmmaker known for his distinctive storytelling and socially conscious cinema. He holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia from Middlesex University, UK, and has received formal training in film direction from Raindance Film School. Additionally, he is a skilled visual effects artist, having trained at Escape Studios, London. Recently his feature film ‘Purani Parichit’ got the ‘Best debut director for Hindi feature film’ award in the 11th Rajasthan International Film Festival

Before transitioning into independent filmmaking, Sumel built a strong foundation in media and advertising as a Creative Producer, working with major brands like Sony Pictures, B4U, Colgate, OLX, Godrej, and Danone. His body of work includes several impactful short films that tackle pressing social issues, solidifying his reputation in the arthouse film scene.
